Kyiv half marathon has received IAAF BRONZE LABEL

Kyiv half marathon Nova Poshta Kyiv Half Marathon has received a prestigious status – IAAF BRONZE LABEL, which attests to high level of organization and compliance to world standards. This was announced by the organizers of the half marathon – Run Ukraine company. Eighth Kyiv half marathon, which is to take place in the capital city on April 22, 2018, is the first running event in Ukraine to receive the Bronze Label from IAAF – International Association of Athletic Federations. Today only 32 running events in the world have the BRONZE LABEL, including such famous races as EA7 Emporio Armani Milano Marathon, PZU Warszawa Marathon, Zurich Marathon. Only two events in post-soviet countries have this status – these are Minsk Half Marathon and Lattelecom Riga Marathon. Now Nova Poshta Kyiv Half Marathon is also added to the list.

In order to receive this status, the organizers had to meet a list of requirements from IAAF on April 9, during seventh Kyiv half marathon. Compliance with these requirements were controlled by a special technical delegate Massimo Magnani. Recently ІAAF confirmed that we had successfully met all requirements.

“Kyiv half marathon has a great potential. Over the two days I was observing all preparation processes and the event itself, everything was of the high quality. I want to specifically mention the welcoming and friendly atmosphere at the sports exhibition and the event itself. Run Ukraine is a team of professionals. It is nice to work with organisers like these. However, I must say that the organizers still have a lot to do to receive Silver and Gold Label”, – said Massimo Magnani, the technical delegate of IAAF Road Running.

It was an important test for Run Ukraine. In order to receive the status of BRONZE LABEL for the next year, the organizers met a list of requirements:

  1. Provided participation of 10 international elite athletes from 4 countries. They were athletes from Ethiopia, Kenya, Poland and Ukraine.
  2. Organized doping control of participants.
  3. Closed the streets along the route for traffic and provided presence of an official international course measurer.
  4. Performed blacktop road safety control to avoid trauma injuries among the participants.

In addition to this, they provided: professional TV broadcast, hydration and food stations, medical control.

First of all, the label is a mark of quality of the event. For our participants, especially european runners, the label is an important criterion, since it guarantees a high level of organisation. This fall the eighth Kyiv half marathon will be included in the international calendar of IAAF road races. For the first time in the history of Ukraine we received such a status. We achieved it thanks to cooperation with KCSA, AFU and partners, and thanks to our participants who constantly inspire us to strive for better. The next goal of Kyiv half marathon is receiving IAAF SILVER LABEL for 2019 and hosting the World Championship in 2020”, – says Dmytro Chernitskyi, the General Manager of Run Ukraine.

Registration for the 8th Nova Poshta Kyiv Half Marathon will open in November on the event website kyivhalfmarathon.org

We would like to remind that Nova Poshta Kyiv Half Marathon is the first stage of Run Ukraine Running League, which includes five running events in four cities of Ukraine: Kyiv, Dnipro, Odesa and Lviv. The League is aimed at amateurs of running, among whom they will determine the winners among men and women after the final stage of the League. The main prize of Run Ukraine Running League 2017 is participation in the prestigious Prague Marathon.
