An outstanding Ukrainian scientist and doctor Mykola Amosov will be engraved on the new finishers’ medals of International Nova Poshta Kyiv Half Marathon 2017. He was selected by the majority of Ukrainians with the help of online voting at the half marathon website. The organizers of the running event – Run Ukraine company announce.
This year organizers have initiated a new design for finishers’ medals that would include the city’s history and images of famous people whose work has changed for the better Kyiv and Ukraine as a whole. Thus, participants of the mass running event can take a look at the city’s spirit and history from a new angle. Anyone could take part in the voting from 20 till 30 January inclusive at the link kyivhalfmarathon.org/golosuvannya. The total number of those who voted was 498 Ukrainians.
The organizers together with historians offered to select one candidate among nine outstanding Kyiwers. 32.15% of votes were given to choose the portrait of Amosov. Prince Volodymyr the Great was voted second. Following the vote, ranking of candidates is as follows:
- Mykola Amosov – 32.15%
- Prince Volodymyr – 19.62%
- Yaroslav the Wise – 9,39%
- Igor Sikorsky – 9,39%
- Hetman Petro Sahaidachniy – 7.10%
- Oleg Antonov – 6.89%
- Mykhailo Hrushevskiy – 6.68%
- Maria Zankovetska – 4.18%
- Oleksandr Dovzhenko – 4.59%
“Every city where starts Run Ukraine Running League 2017 take place in addition to beautiful architecture have prominent personalities who glorified the city and made a significant contribution to world science or culture. In order to tell about them this year we decided to portray these personalities adding to the images of architecture.
We have entrusted this choice to our participants. The victory of Mykola Amosov in the voting is very symbolic. In his activities he gave a chance for a second life to thousands of people, cared for their health. This voting result confirms that health is the main value for our participants which we also support”, says Director of Marketing and Communications of Run Ukraine company Victoria Veremiienko.

- Arseniy Finberg – expert in Kyiv history, founder of “Interesting Kyiv” bureau.
At the finish of the seventh Nova Poshta Kyiv Half Marathon 2017 such medals will be presented to runners for the first time. We remind that the major running event will be held on April 9 this year and will bring together more than eight thousand running-lovers from different cities of Ukraine and the world. Anyone can participate in the race choosing the course according to their capabilities: 5 km, 10 km and 21 km.
