Kyiv Unbroken Half Marathon raised over 400 thousand hryvnias for the medical battalion “Hospitallers”

On April 30, Kyiv hosted a charity race, “Day 431: Kyiv Unbroken Half Marathon”, from Run Ukraine.

The offline race took place in Kyiv at VDNG, and the online participants were running in different parts of the world to raise funds for the medical battalion “Hospitallers,” which has been saving the lives of those on the front line since 2014. We were able to raise over 400 thousand hryvnias for the purchase of junctional tourniquets.

Kyiv Half Marathon is a running event that, for over a decade, has been bringing together professional and amateur runners from all over the country. This year, the half-marathon brought together 2139 participants: 1800 ran offline, and over 300 participated online. Favbet became the general partner of the event.

”Kyiv Half Marathon is an important sports event for our capital city. We remember that we could enjoy this sports festival thanks to the efforts of all those defending Ukraine at the front line.

Today, we partnered with the Department for Youth and Sport of Kyiv City State Administration, our supporters, and participants to show the world the power of the unbroken Ukrainian spirit. We also raised funds to purchase expensive junctional tourniquets for the medical battalion “Hospitallers,” Viktoriia Veremiienko of the Run Ukraine team said.

”Right now, our paramedics work at the front line for the sake of every life. It has been the motto of our battalion since 2014. Today, you run for the sake of every life. It is incredible that your little hobby can enormously contribute to the work of our battalion and the paramedics on the front line. It’s a contribution to our shared victory”, Olha Fedorova (“Murka”), the spokesperson for the medical battalion “Hospitallers,” said during the event.

The main course’s absolute winners are Romanenko (1:07:45) and Olha Havlytska (1:30:09).

”I am grateful that Run Ukraine organized this race in such uncertain times. Everything was organized at the highest level. There were many participants today, proving that such events are essential. The competition was tight on the 21 km course, but I got ahead at the last meters. Of course, I am happy,” Roman Romanenko commented on his victory.

Absolute winners on the 21 km course:

Men:

  1. Roman Romanenko — 1:07:45
  2. Ihor Porozov — 1:07:50
  3. Dmytro Siruuk — 1:07:50

  1. Olha Havlytska — 1:30:09
  2. Lidmyla Pushkina — 1:31:41
  3. Roksana Bondarenko — 1:34:50

Besides the main distance of 21.0975 km, there were also 10 km and 5 km courses. Kids could participate in children’s races.

Thanks to the support of our general partner Favbet, which has cooperated with Run Ukraine on several occasions, the prize fund of the race amounted to 62 thousand hryvnias. Three absolute winners among men and women were determined on the half-marathon course. There were monetary rewards for the winners on the courses of 10 km and 5 km.
