For the first time the program of the annual Kyiv half marathon Nova Poshta Kyiv Half Marathon 2017 will include “Music Half Marathon” – a unique festival format dedicated to “Eurovision-2017”. On April 9 over 10,000 athletes will come to starting lines and overcome the course, accompanied by musical support from 43 bands. On this day, every 500 meters of the route, starting at Podil, there will be music of the countries represented at the song contest. The bands will perform covers of popular songs of modern bands and ethnic rhythms of the nations.
“Music Half Marathon” was initiated by the Department of Tourism of KCSA and race organizers, the team of Run Ukraine, to promote running culture and the 62nd song contest “Eurovision-2017” to be held in Kyiv, May 9-13. This way the participants receive extraordinary support and audience gets a festival of sports and music.
“Kyiv Half Marathon and Marathon are among the key events in shaping the image of the capital of Ukraine.Due to the high level of organization of these events, the number of foreign and Ukrainian participants is growing. Over the past few years we have created good traditions. Tourists who come to the capital city for running events, usually stay a few days longer to get to know the city. Given that this year Kyiv will host “Eurovision-2017”, we suggested the idea to promote not only the city but also the song contest. This combination of music and sports events creates a positive image and allows to promote Kyiv more “- says the head of the Department of Tourism of KCSA Anton Taranenko.

Information about Kyiv Half Marathon
Kyiv International half marathon Nova Poshta Kyiv Half Marathon has become a running tradition of the city. This year the event will take place for the seventh time and will bring together about 10 thousand fans of running from all over Ukraine and the world. Every year the number of participants of our events increases, and so does the prize fund. In 2017 it will come to 146,000 UAH. The half marathon route has been certified by AIMS. Nova Poshta Kyiv Half Marathon 2017 has also been certified by the European Athletic Association and got the highest mark of quality – “5 stars”. This means that the event will be organized by high standards with the appropriate level of security and order. This year the participants will have four individual races offered to them: 21.0975 km, 10 km, 5 km and 2 km. There will also be a relay and corporate races. Traditionally, the organizers of the half marathon invite young participants to try themselves in the children’s races at 1,000 m, 500 m and 100 m.
