For the first within the International Nova Poshta Kyiv Half Marathon 2017 will be held a Championship of Ukraine in the race down the highway at a course of 21.0975 km (half marathon). This year event will be held on April 9 and overall will gather more than 8,000 participants. Nearly 3,000 persons will take the start in the main course – 21.0975 km, 50 of whom are professional athletes that will compete for the title of the half marathon champion of Ukraine 2017. “Conducting the official championship in which best athletes of Ukraine participate is another sign of the quality of Kyiv half marathon and expression of trust of professional athletes in us as organizers. Our running events gather a wide audience. Such format of mixing official running event with mass one introduces Ukrainians to sports leaders, true professionals who duly represent Ukraine on international sports arena. Thus we make the first step to implementing an important goal – conducting the official Half Marathon World Championship in 2020”, says General Manager of Run Ukraine Dmytro Chernitskyi.

Nova Poshta Kyiv Half Marathon 2017 is an international running event that brings together running fans from different cities of Ukraine and the world. Athletics Federation of Ukraine marked the high level of organization of previous Kyiv half marathon which was the determining factor in decision to conduct national half marathon championship in 2017.
“Conducting the official championship within the mass race is a tradition for the most European countries. This approach is advisable for us also that is why we try to implement it. It will be more spectacular for the official competition. Equally for organizers of the mass race conducting national championship is an element of prestige. Moreover, participation of professional athletes in the half marathon where the majority of runners are amateurs will add new colors to race“, commented the President of the Athletics Federation of Ukraine Igor Gotsul.
The total prize fund of the competition is 146 000 UAH.
We would like to remind that the route of the half marathon has an international certificate of compliance AIMS, in addition, Nova Poshta Kyiv Half Marathon 2017 was certified by European Association of Athletics and got the highest mark of quality – “5 stars”. This means that the event will be organized to a high standard with the appropriate level of security and order. For running fans this year four individual courses are scheduled for the race: 21.0975 km, 10 km, 5 km and 2 km. Also relay and corporate competitions will be held. Traditionally, the organizers offer small participants to take the children starts at 1 000 m, 500 m and 100 m.
Nova Poshta Kyiv Half Marathon 2017 opens the series of Run Ukraine Running League 2017 events that brings together five running events in four cities of Ukraine, namely:
- Nova Poshta Kyiv Half Marathon (09.04);
- Interpipe Dnipro Half Marathon (28.05);
- Odesa Half Marathon (25.06);
- Wizz Air Kyiv City Marathon (08.10);
- Grand Prix Lviv Half Marathon (29.10).
